First stop on our guided tour of Arles and its surroundings.
You’ve just arrived, a little tired and hungry, but you are anxious to feel the pulse of the city. Fortunately, your hotel is situated in the heart of the historic centre.
To mingle with the arlesians, who, just like you, are preparing for the weekend, take “Rue des Arènes” until you arrive at “Place du Forum,” which is the core of the Roman City. You will arrive in front of the columns of an antique temple, which is adjacent to the Nord-Pinus, the legendary hotel where matadors would stay, and the meeting point for Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau and Ernest Hemingway at every fair. Make yourself comfortable at the Tambourin or Mon bar, for those who like to smoke, and order un pastis (or une mauresque, if you want something a little more decadent) while listening to locals’ banter.
This will be your first typical arlesiese experience. Next, for differ, the list is endless; ask us and we would be happy to advise you based on your cravings.
